THIS E-MAIL IS FROM "RADIO APOLLO 815". Dated 9.11.2004 Hello Harri. Many thanks for all the very nice new logs and mp3 recordings on your site. I have, if you like, some more information of Radio Witte Bison from Alkmaar, Witte Bison is a well known person for me. I came as a 15 year old boy a lot of times in his house. I learned pirat radio from him. His name is : dirk van der XXXXXXX, and his location was not Alkmaar but a small city 40 kilometer north of Alkmaar. This city is called: Wieringerwaard. Dirk is now about 75 years old. He was with his first transmitters active around 1946, so an very old pirate. Most of the times when I was at his home he used a VT kast, (bc191) army transmitter, with a 3000 volts power supply. His antenne was a longwire from 45 meters long. At this moment has dirk his licence for legal radio operator , on the 70 cm, and two meterband. In 1960 was he of air because a police and DTI action, and lost his equipment. In 1962 the Dutch television made a information programm of the risks of pirates in airwave bands, and s.o.s. bands. Dirk was on television that year, with his transmitter, to show the world not to transmitt. In the beginnig of the 70's he came back illegal, and in 1980 he was starting to learn for his licence.
